Griot History

Griot was founded February 14, 1969, as “Drums”. The Griot staff continues today with the same mission established at its inception as “...a source of black expressive writing, as well as a source of news and issues related to the xperiences of African Americans.” We pride ourselves as being an outlet for students to express themselves and to keep it real with one another. Striving to keep a connection within the Black community on and off campus, the Griot staff is just what its name suggests, storytellers, and we are grateful you are continuing to let us tell it.
